In mid October, here in UK is getting cold and windy. Winter is approaching. Just the time to knit a cozy headband to prevent my ears fallen off.
To be honest, I wasn’t planning to knit a headband at all. Forever since I had long hair, I was always in a pony tail. Or a bun, for ballet classes. Only occasionally let my hair down, times like balls, formals, or wild night club times back in my late teens. Although I think it’s very feminine to see the girls swinging and playing with their hair, I preferred pony tail. Why? Because I was very numb with the hair thing. Pony tail was easy. Plus the fact that my mother thinks it’s a waste of money to have hair done often. Imagine the state of a girl’s hair that’s never cut in 3 years time. Not even to tidy up the ends.
Pony tail is easy to care, just brush though and tie up with a bobbin. But I can never properly wear a hat. The bobbin just gets in the way. And I was not into wearing hat. My mother said to me when I was little, because my face is long, so I don’t look good in hats. And I have always believed her.
Recently I need to leave the house early in the morning. All I can feel is the sharp wind that blow directly onto my face and head. So I was thinking of knitting a hat. and a pair of gloves. Haven’t knitted any gloves, it’d be fun to knit a pair.
As I was browsing patterns on Rowan’s web, this Charlotte headband caught my eyes. This pattern is designed by Anna Nikipirowicz. I don’t know her, have never met her. But this Charlotte headband looks great!
Decided to give it a go last night, took me about 2.5 – 3 hours. Used some the spare yarns laying around from last Autumn. In the original pattern, Anna instructed to use 6mm needles, but because the weight of my yarn is not a super chunky, it’d be very loose to use 6mm. So I used a pair of 5mm and added two more repeats of the pattern.
That’s all for now.
